Visionary Leadership
How good are your leaders today? Will they be better tomorrow? Who will replace them when they are gone? Every organization asks itself these questions, but finding the answers is difficult. This one-and-a-half day seminar helps you insure growth in your leaders, so that your organization can deal with continuing organizational change.
The venue for the program is one of the most hallowed places in America — The Antietam Battlefield. At this place, in September of 1862, over a hundred thousand Americans engaged in a bloody struggle to determine the fate of our nation. At the end of the day, over 23,000 had fallen in the most terrible single day our country has ever experienced.
This program is a comparison of two people who played critical roles in that struggle. Their names are Abraham Lincoln and George McClellan. In July of 1862, the two of them held leadership positions of great importance. One was President of the United States. The other was General-in-Chief of the massive armies of the Union. Today, one is remembered as one of the great Americans of all time, while the other is relatively unknown, except to those who study the American Civil War. Why did one rise to greatness and the other fade into relative obscurity?
This program is structured as two sessions: (1) a half-day classroom session at a facility of your choice (hotel or office site), with case studies and group discussion; (2) a full day the Antietam National Battlefield, in Sharpsburg, Maryland (a 90-minute drive from Washington, DC).
